RM1390   Axinite-(Fe) with calcite and quartz
Ca4Fe2+2Al4[B2Si8O30](OH)2

If something I like about the world of selling minerals is to find specimens lost in the nooks of old collections. This sample is a case of this. It is an Australian piece, of good size, formed by a druse of ferro-axinite crystals, not very big, but with an excellent color and transparency. They are accompanied by calcite and curious milky quartz. The specimen comes from a locality located NW of Queenstown, Tasmania, a big skarn that was worked by their sulfides: pyrite, pyrrhotite, arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite. Under the calcite ferro-axinite appeared... But a long time ago. 7696q
